The Battle Frontier is an island added in Pokémon Emerald that specializes in variations of Pokémon battling. After defeating the Elite Four and obtaining the National Pokédex, you need to obtain the Frontier Pass in order to roam freely around the Battle Frontier.

After winning at each of the Battle Frontier locations a certain amount of times, the trainer can fight the location's Leader (collectively known as 'The Frontier Brains') for a chance to win silver and gold Battle Frontier badges. When the trainer defeats all of the leaders twice, the trainer gets special Berries and an extra star added to the Trainer's Card.

Battle Frontier challenges[edit]

There are seven challenges in the Battle Frontier, each of which have different rules.

Other Points of Interest[edit]

Artisan Cave[edit]

Artisan Cave

The Artisan Cave is a long cave connecting one end of the Battle Frontier to the other. It starts near the Battle Palace and the exit is right next to the Battle Tower.

The cave is two levels high, contains a Rare Candy, and contains wild Smeargle, which are the only Pokémon you will encounter in that cave. Despite the rumors of a long-tailed Pokémon, there is no Legendary Pokémon here.

House[edit]

There is a house next to the Battle Tower. Inside, there is a trainer who wants to trade a Meowth. However, the trade should probably only be done if the player doesn't have a Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen file, due to the fact Skitty is rare in the games it is obtainable in, but Meowth is common in the games it is obtainable in.

Record Hall[edit]

The record hall contains all of the records that the trainer set at the Battle Frontier for each of the facilities. If the trainer mixes records with another Emerald game, the trainer can also get the Battle Frontier records from the other game.

Catching Sudowoodo[edit]

A level 40 Sudowoodo is located in the southeast section of the Battle Frontier; like in Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal, if it is watered with the Wailmer Pail, it will attack. Be sure to save right before watering Sudowoodo. If you mess up, you can turn the game off and try again. Also save after catching it. This is one of the only two ways to catch Sudowoodo in the third generation (the other being in Pokémon Colosseum).

Move Tutors[edit]

In a house next to the Battle Dome, there are two move tutors. They will teach the trainer's Pokémon a selection of attacks for a price in Battle Points.

After the trainer gets three Silver symbols from any facility, in the house under the Battle Pyramid, there will be four people. One of those is a Hiker, and if the trainer talks to him, he will say that he's looking for someone to go in ????? competition. If the trainer says yes to his request, he'll ask the trainer to give him 5, 10, or 15 battle points. If the trainer wins in whatever he was asked, the trainer will get double the battle points back. Below is a list of competitions he wants the trainer to enter. They will change every day, and go in the order below.

Battle Frontier Shop[edit]

Ofcourse, there's plenty more to see, so tune in to Pokémon TV and settle in fora viewing marathon!

Ash is continuing his journey to conquer the Battle Frontierby defeating the Frontier Brains who reside throughout the region. Throughoutthe course of the season, you'll see Ash take on Greta at the Battle Arena (“Wheelof Frontier”), Tucker at the Battle Dome (“TacticsTheatrics!!”), Lucy at the Battle Pike (“Queenof the Serpentine!”), Spenser at the BattlePalace (“KaBoom with a View!”), and Anabel at theBattle Tower (“Talkinga Good Game!”). There's one more facilityof the Battle Frontier, but we'll talk about the Battle Pyramid later.

When Ash and his friends happen upon a farm run by peoplewho raise Pokémon Eggs, May bonds with Nicolette, the daughter of the farmers.Team Rocket invades the farm, looking to swipe the valuable Eggs, but May stepsup and helps drive the troublesome trio away. To thank May for her help,Nicolette's parents give May a Pokémon Egg of her own (“May'sEgg-Cellent Adventure”). May tends to her precious cargo over the next severalepisodes until it finally hatches (“TimeWarp Heals All Wounds”). But what Pokémon emerges from the Egg? C'mon, we don'twant to spoil the surprise!

An unusual aurora appears in the sky, and technology startsgoing haywire—something strange is clearly going on! Luckily, Ash and crewcross paths with a Pokémon Ranger named Solana who's helping wild Pokémon cope withthe odd occurrences. She and her fellow Rangers think the problems may berelated to some geomagnetic activity in the area, and the sudden appearance ofDeoxys adds to the mystery (“PokémonRanger - Deoxys' Crisis (Part 1)”)! It turns out Deoxys is distressed bythe immense energy being emitted from a fallen meteorite, and the situationgrows more dangerous when Deoxys possesses Team Rocket's Meowth and vanishesinto another dimension with May's brother, Max. To rescue their friends, Ashand Team Rocket will have to join forces to find a way into Deoxys's dimensionand soothe the agitated Mythical Pokémon (“PokémonRanger - Deoxys' Crisis (Part 2)”).

Ash, May, Brock, and Max have arrived at the Indigo Plateau, home of the Pokémon Contest Grand Festival! May's been working hard as aPokémon Coordinator, and her skills will be tested in this final challenge. AlthoughMay is nervous about the competition, a chat with fellow Coordinator Solidad helpsboost her confidence (“May,We Harley Drew'd Ya!”). During the Grand Festival,May faces off against Harley and Drew, two of her fiercest rivals (“Thinningthe Hoard!”). She certainly has what ittakes, though, as she is one of the contestants to make it all the way to thefinal four (“Channelingthe Battle Zone!”)!

Remember the Battle Pyramid we mentioned earlier? Well, ontheir way there, Ash and friends fall into some ruins where they meet Brandon, the Pyramid King. It's here where Ash faces off against Regirock, the first ofBrandon's trio of Legendary Pokémon. It's an unusual battle, though, as ourintrepid young Pokémon Trainer has become possessed by the spirit of the wickedKing of Pokélantis (“Battlingthe Enemy Within!”). Later, Ash facesBrandon again in an official match in Fennel Valley. This time, he sends hisTorkoal up against Brandon's Registeel (“Overjoyed!”). Finally, Pikachu battles Brandon's third LegendaryPokémon, Regice (“Pace- The Final Frontier!”). But does thelittle Electric-type Pokémon have what it takes to win the Brave Symbol?

This is just a taste of what's in store for Ash and companyin Pokémon: Battle Frontier, so don'tmiss out on the whole story! Remember that you can load up the Pokémon TV mobile app andenjoy these classic episodes on the go!
